Chemical Disclosures
Whynter is committed to meeting applicable product safety and chemical disclosure requirements across all product categories. Our goal is straightforward compliance and clear communication, without unnecessary complexity.
California Proposition 65
Under California’s Proposition 65, businesses must provide “clear and reasonable” warnings regarding exposure to specific chemicals known by the state to cause cancer or reproductive toxicity. Any item containing these identified substances must feature a compliant warning directly on the product or its packaging. These regulations are significantly more rigorous than federal safety standards and apply exclusively to California. For additional details, you can consult the official Proposition 65 website.
Certain Whynter models may fall under these Proposition 65 labeling mandates.
California AB 1200
Whynter is committed to adhering to all legal regulations governing our merchandise. Under California’s AB 1200, producers of specified cookware are mandated to provide disclosures if certain chemicals are intentionally included in handles or components that come into contact with food.
The disclosure mandates for cookware under AB 1200 are outlined in the California Health & Safety Code, starting at Section 109010. Manufacturers have been required to list these chemicals on their official websites.
- “Cookware” refers to objects utilized for the preparation, service, or storage of food and drinks, including items like pots, pans, griddles, baking tins, trays, bowls, and various kitchen tools.
- “Intentionally added” signifies that a chemical was purposely included by the producer to serve a specific technical or functional role within the product.
The chart provided on this page details the list subject to these online disclosure requirements.
