Rolled ice cream started as a street-food treat. The ICR-300SS puts the same frozen top plate on your counter.

Three ingredients, one frozen plate, and a few minutes of chopping give you strawberry ice cream rolls at home. You pour a sweet cream base over fresh strawberries, chop and spread it thin on the Whynter ICR-300SS, then roll it into spirals and serve.

How to Make Strawberry Rolled Ice Cream
Ingredients
  • 1 cup heavy cream, cold
  • 1/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
  • 1 whole strawberry for garnish

Whisk the heavy cream and condensed milk together in a measuring cup with a spout. The spout gives you an even pour onto the plate.

Instructions
Step 1: Power on and wait for green

Place your shovels on the plate and press the power button. Wait for the indicator light to turn green. Green means the plate has reached the right temperature.

Step 2: Add the strawberries

Scatter the chopped strawberries across the center of the frozen plate.

Step 3: Pour the ice cream mix

Pour the cream and condensed milk mix over the strawberries. Keep the pour in the center so it does not run to the edges.

Step 4: Chop and mix

Hold one shovel in each hand. Use the edges to chop the strawberries into small pieces and work them into the cream.

Step 5: Watch for it to thicken

Keep chopping and folding. The mix turns thick and sticky as it starts to freeze. This is your sign to spread it out.

Step 6: Spread it thin

Spread the mix in an even, thin layer across the whole plate. A thin, even layer freezes evenly and rolls without cracking.

Step 7: Cut into strips

Once the layer hardens, use the edge of a shovel to cut it into strips about the width of your shovel.

Step 8: Roll

Set the shovel edge at the end of a strip at a low angle. Push forward so the ice cream curls up into a roll. Repeat for each strip.

Step 9: Plate and serve

Use tongs to lift the rolls into a cup. Stand them on end and top with a whole strawberry.

Tips for perfect rolls
  • Start with cold cream. A chilled base freezes faster on the plate.
  • Chop fruit small. Large pieces tear the layer when you roll it.
  • Spread thin. A thick layer cracks instead of curling.
  • Wait for the layer to firm up before you cut. If the strips smear, give it another 30 seconds.
  • Keep the shovel at a low angle when you roll. A steep angle scrapes instead of curls.
  • Wipe the plate clean between batches so leftover bits do not freeze into the next layer.
Try a new flavor

Keep the same cream base and swap the mix-in:

  • Cookies and cream: 3 crushed chocolate sandwich cookies
  • Mango: 1/2 cup diced ripe mango
  • Banana and Nutella: 1/2 sliced banana plus 1 tablespoon Nutella
  • Matcha: 1 teaspoon matcha powder whisked into the base
