A great margarita is all about balance: bright lime, quality tequila, a touch of sweetness, and a proper salted rim. But there’s one ingredient most people overlook: the ice. Watery, cloudy ice dilutes your drink fast and flattens the flavor. That’s where the Whynter IBX-388 series ice makers come in.

The IBX-388 series produces crunchy nugget ice that keeps your margarita perfectly chilled without watering it down. Once you’ve made margaritas this way, you’ll never go back.

Ingredients

PER COCKTAIL

  • 2 oz blanco tequila
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice (about 1 large lime)
  • ¾ oz Cointreau or triple sec
  • ½ oz agave nectar
  • Coarse sea salt, for the rim
  • 1 lime wedge, for rimming and garnish
  • Ice from your Whynter IBX Ice Maker

Instructions

  1. Run a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks glass. Dip the rim into a shallow dish of coarse sea salt and set aside.
  2. Fill the glass generously with ice from your Whynter IBX Series Ice Maker.
  3. Combine the tequila, lime juice, Cointreau, and agave nectar and mix well.
  4. Pour over the prepared glass and garnish with a fresh lime wheel. ¡Salud!

Variations

Spicy Jalapeno Margarita — Muddle 2 thin slices of fresh jalapeno in a shaker and strain well before adding it to the other ingredients.

Strawberry Margarita — Replace the agave with ¾ oz of fresh strawberry puree and add a splash of lime.

Mezcal Margarita — Swap the blanco tequila for a smoky mezcal for a deeper, more complex cocktail.

Pitcher Version — Multiply all ingredients by 8, combine in a large pitcher, and pour over ice at serving time.
